Top 10 Hearing Treatments
One sixth of the worlds population has hearing problems. The reason for this is barotrauma, inflammation, age-related changes and many others. People ignore this problem and bring it to the point where it is already difficult to do something. After all, there are not so many methods of treatment.
Standard treatments for hearing problems
Common ways to improve hearing include:
- Drug therapy: intramuscular injections and tablets; in the acute form, intensive therapy is used for the first 5 days, injections for the next two weeks, tablets for the remaining 3 months (if necessary), the treatment regimen is prescribed individually.
- Physiotherapeutic methods: phonoelectrophoresis, laser treatment, fluctuating electric current; physiatry is used in combination with medicinal methods, helping the absorption of medicines and stimulating healing;
- Surgical intervention: prevention of obstruction to sound transmission, restoration of destroyed areas of the inner and middle ear;
- Hearing aids: installation of hearing aids and cochlear implants; the method is used when hearing cannot be restored by other methods.
Stem cells
This is an expensive method because cord blood stem cells are used. The technology is experimental, so it is not yet so common. But with its help, it is possible to restore hearing to completely deaf patients.
Gene engineering
With this method, the genotype is rearranged. Individual genes switch and restart. This method helps to prevent the birth of a child with a hearing pathology. In this case, further rehabilitation is not required. The procedure is one time.
Pharmacology and implantable system
This includes injecting drugs (anti-inflammatory agents and neurotropes) directly into the cochlea. The nerve is restored or the growth of nerve endings is stimulated.
But while all these methods have not yet undergone final research, we recommend using those whose effectiveness has long been confirmed.
